Company policies
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Large organisations and public bodies ask their suppliers for these three as part of taking them on. They are published here so you do not need to ask. Each applies to APW Consulting Ltd, which operates Walters Sentinel, and to everyone who works for it or on its behalf.
1. Anti-bribery and corruption
We do not offer, pay, ask for or accept bribes, in any form, to anyone, anywhere. We comply with the Bribery Act 2010.
- No facilitation payments. We do not make small payments to speed up a routine process, even where they are customary.
- Gifts and hospitality must be modest, given or received openly, and never linked to a decision. Anything worth more than £50 is recorded, and needs the Director's approval before it is accepted or given. We never give or accept cash or its equivalent.
- No political donations are made by the company.
- Suppliers and anyone acting for us are expected to meet the same standard. We will not work with anyone who does not.
- Raising a concern. Anyone can report a suspected breach to the Director or to contact@walterssentinel.com. Nobody will suffer for reporting a concern in good faith.
- Records. We keep accurate accounts and records of every payment, so that none can be disguised.
A breach of this policy is a disciplinary matter, and may end a contract or a working relationship.
2. Modern slavery statement
The Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires a statement from organisations with turnover of £36 million or more. We are below that, and publish one anyway because our customers ask.
- Our business. We provide security and compliance software online, from the United Kingdom. The work is done by a small UK team.
- Our supply chain. Almost all of it is cloud hosting, payments, email and messaging, from established providers. Each is named on our sub-processors list. We buy computer equipment from established retailers.
- Our assessment. We consider the risk of slavery or human trafficking in our own business very low. The main risk is further down the supply chain of computer equipment, so we buy from retailers and manufacturers that publish their own modern slavery statements, and keep devices in use for as long as they are supported.
- What we do. We check that new suppliers publish a statement where the law requires one, and will end a relationship with any supplier found to use forced labour.
This statement is reviewed and approved by the Director every year.
3. Carbon reduction plan
Our commitment: APW Consulting Ltd is committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2050 at the latest.
Where our emissions come from. As a software business we have no factory, warehouse or fleet. Our emissions come mainly from electricity for the cloud servers that run Walters Sentinel, electricity for one office, and the computers and phones we buy.
Baseline. We have not yet measured our emissions. Our first baseline, covering the year to 31 March 2027 and reported to the GHG Protocol and the government's guidance for suppliers (Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 business travel, employee commuting, waste and upstream transport), will be published here by 30 June 2027, with reduction targets set against it.
What we already do:
- run the service on shared cloud servers sized to what it needs, rather than on dedicated hardware left idle
- work remotely, so there is no daily commute, and meet by video call rather than travelling
- keep computers and phones in use for as long as they receive security updates, and recycle them properly at the end
- keep the service lean, so it does the same work with less computing
This plan has been reviewed and signed off by the Director of APW Consulting Ltd, and is reviewed every year.
